Your Opportunity:The Community Accessible Rehabilitation (CAR) program is an ambulatory rehabilitation program for adult clients with complex condition/injuries and includes the Pulmonary Rehabilitation program. The focus of Pulmonary Rehabilitation is to provide respiratory education, physical assessment, and individual and group exercise programs for clients with moderate to severe chronic lung disease. Service delivery is both virtual and in-person with a strong emphasis on education and self-management. A component of this program also provides airway clearance teaching for bronchiectasis clients. The Clinical Leader will support the daily operational needs for direct client care, including program development and evaluation, quality improvement initiatives, and staff education. A percentage of this role (up to 60%) may be assigned to direct clinical care of clients, which may change based on operational need. We are looking for a physiotherapist with clinical experience in the rehabilitation of clients with chronic moderate to severe lung disease. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership in the areas of research, program development, and evidence-based practice initiatives with strong clinical education skills. This position is an integral part of the CAR program and involves ongoing collaboration with stakeholders across the care continuum. CAR is a multi-site program, and this position is based out of the South Calgary Health Centre. The caseload for all positions within CAR may be subject to change based on operational considerations.Description:As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.
