Located just a few short minutes north of Edmonton, the 167-bed Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH) serves the community of St Albert and the surrounding area. Our physiotherapy department works collaboratively with all clinical teams - Medical/Surgical Units, ICU/CCU, Emergency and Day Surgery - and this position may provide coverage to all of these listed service areas. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills and can work effectively under minimal supervision. As a Physiotherapist I (PT I), you'll play a pivotal role in providing direct client care to individuals with a wide range of conditions. From assessment to treatment, you'll work closely with patients to develop personalized rehabilitation plans that promote recovery and improve quality of life. Your responsibilities will extend beyond direct care, encompassing education, program planning, and evaluation to ensure the holistic well-being of our clients. Description:
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. A minimum of 1-year Acute Care experience working as a Physiotherapist in the last 3 years is required; new graduates with relevant clinical experience may also be considered. Effective time management and prioritization skills are required. Conflict resolution and strong communication skills (written and verbal) are essential. Must be able to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills is essential. Given work tasks and charting are computer-based in this role, the ability to carry out extensive repetitive motion tasks is critical. The successful incumbent will be capable of safely managing long periods of sitting or standing, as well as repetitive movements. Must be able to participate in hands on care of patients (i.e., transfers, bariatric clients, bending, reaching, twisting, and walking distances). Must be able to lift and carry 10-15 kg regularly as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within the ICU is preferred. Experience with Connect Care is an asset. AADL Authorizer is ideal. Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook is preferred.
