Your Opportunity:

Located just a few short minutes north of Edmonton, the 167-bed Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH) serves the community of St Albert and the surrounding area. The physiotherapy department works collaboratively with all clinical teams: Emergency, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Units and Day Surgery. This position may provide coverage to all service areas listed above. The preferred candidate has excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills and can work under minimal supervision.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 1-year Acute Care experience working as an Physiotherapist in the last 3 years required. New graduates with relevant clinical experience may be considered. Completion of master\'s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor\'s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Physiotherapy Alberta College + Association. Effective time management and prioritization skills are required. Conflict resolution and strong communication skills are required. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills. Work tasks and charting is computer based so there are extensive repetitive motion tasks. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting, or standing as well as repetitive movements. Must be able to participate in hands on care of patients (i.e., transfers, bariatric clients, bending, Reaching, twisting, and walking distances). Must be able to lift and carry 10-15 kg regularly if needed. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge and ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Connect Care. Heart and Stroke BCLS-HCP CPR certification and Its your Move training. Experience working within ICU and ER.
