Your Opportunity:The Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury is a 48-bed facility that provides care for patients with acquired brain injury through an interdisciplinary approach. The program is a progressive and expanding service with a commitment to professional development and excellence. Reporting to the Unit Manager, The Physiotherapist I will be responsible for the assessment of patients as well as the development, implementation and evaluation of individual treatment programs according to professional practice standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining adequate treatment and progress records, attending treatment team conferences and supervising the routines of therapy assistants. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Following the transition letter of understanding with UNA, current employees under the UNA Collective Agreement who accept an employment offer, issued after July 1, 2024, will not have any rights under Article 15: Layoff and Recall.Description:As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:Bachelor\'s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications:CPR Required - BLS for Health Care Providers Level C. You are physically capable of carrying out the duties of this position. This physically demanding position requires the OT to physically assist patients in a variety of functional tasks. Complex moderate to severe brain-injured patients may be very dependent on care at times. You are expected to manage behaviorally challenged patients. You will have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise professional judgement and initiative. The ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
