Your Opportunity:

The Physiotherapist I within Home Care will have the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team of Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Respiratory Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Rehab Assistants, and Physiotherapists. These professionals collaborate and conduct home visits to deliver services to clients with a wide variety of conditions, including complex health needs. Working in a fast-paced environment, the Physiotherapist I is responsible for providing comprehensive assessment, consultation, and treatment programs for patients in their homes. Some interventions include strengthening, stretching, mobility, and use of modalities. The Physiotherapist will also help instruct interventions to a Therapy Assistant and collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to provide effective patient care and appropriate discharge planning.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Proven ability to provide exceptional clinical care within a continually changing healthcare environment. Basic computer skills required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team. You may be required to see clients with acute, LTC, and end of life conditions. The successful candidate will work independently in clients' homes, which could include single family dwellings, condominiums, and/or walk-up apartments; therefore, the successful candidate must be able to work in different settings and environments (home environments and weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carrying medical bags, which weigh approximately 25-30 lbs. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Home Care is preferred. Experience with Meditech is an asset.
