Your Opportunity:

The successful applicant for this position will be instrumental in the delivery and development of Physiotherapy services within the innovative and expanding service sector of Supportive Living. Working closely with other members of the healthcare team, the Physiotherapy will be responsible for delivering through direct client care, and supervision and assignment of tasks to rehabilitation assistants and other healthcare. Key Responsibilities and Competencies: Work i collaboration with Supportive Living Case Managers in the development of appropriate care plans. Provide teaching, delegation and assignment of tasks to clients, client's family, and other health care providers. Assess clients, establish& monitor treatment/intervention plans and goals with the client, family, rehab assistants and other health disciplines as appropriate. Monitor services provided for effectiveness and efficacy, including participation in quality improvement and best practice initiatives, use of outcome measures, and program evaluation.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Comply with the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) and the Standards of Practice of the College. Must be able to work in different settings and environments (weather conditions), as well as be able to lift and carrying medical bags, which weight approximately 25-30 lbs. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of resources, community agencies and Alberta Health Services programs and services available within the Edmonton Zone. Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills, with strong written and verbal communication. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative team environment.
