The East Calgary Family Care Clinic is known for providing comprehensive primary care to people living in East Calgary with complex needs. This could be any combination of chronic illnesses, mental health concerns and social or economic factors that negatively impact health. Working within a large interdisciplinary team, the physiotherapist will conduct assessments and provide diagnoses, treatments and care planning for clients with physical or functional mobility deficits. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a primary care setting within an interdisciplinary team, providing services to a diverse and complex client group. This role will involve both collaborative and independent practice as well as program and role development. The PT ensures that their practice is evidence based, client centered and meets the physical therapy standards of practice. This position is part of Primary Care Alberta. Description:
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

3-5 years clinical experience in providing care to individuals and their families. BCLS-HCP required. Experience in orthopedic care. Must be able to use independent judgment and initiative to determine most appropriate treatment and setting. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team. Self-directed with effective communication, organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse patients & families. Demonstrated flexibility and creativity. Demonstrated computer knowledge and skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years clinical experience in providing care to individuals and their families in a community / outpatient setting. Experience with complex chronic disease clients in a community setting. AADL Authorizer an asset. Pelvic floor physio experience and asset. Dry Needling / IMS certificate an asset. Knowledge and use of Health Change Methodology(R).
