Your Opportunity:
The Alberta Children's Hospital is a warm and vibrant workplace, with team members providing service to children and their families in inpatient units and ambulatory clinics. The Physical Therapist I, as part of the ACH site wide PT Services, ensures the level of clinical practice on the assigned clinical service area is family/client-centered and meets PT clinical standards of practice. This position will provide support to patients 0-18years referred to physiotherapy across the site including both ambulatory programs, clinic areas and/or inpatient units. The physiotherapist will provide assessment, therapeutic interventions and coordination of care to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. The PT collaborates with patients and families across site wide clinics, programs and/or community partners. Interventions may include direct treatment, equipment reviews, and/or advocacy. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team; will exhibit excellent clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills including analytical thinking and conflict resolution/negotiation; will be organized in managing a large and complex caseload; will demonstrate initiative, adaptability and flexibility to meet varying clinical and operational needs; and will demonstrate effective interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills. Supervision of the clinical practice of students and assistants is required. Participation on program/clinic committees is possible. Description:
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum two to five (2-5) years of relevant, related clinical experience in an inpatient, acute tertiary setting. Recent, minimum one year clinical experience within the last two years, in a pediatric physical medicine/rehabilitation setting. Minimum one year knowledge and experience in pediatric development and conditions. Minimum one year knowledge of tertiary rehabilitation service delivery. BCLS-HCP certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

AADL authorization required for some services. Knowledge of community resources.
