Your Opportunity:

Located in N.E. Calgary, the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC) is an acute care hospital offering both inpatient and outpatient services. The PLC has over 600 inpatient beds, including Medical, Surgical, Pediatrics, Women\'s Health and Critical Care. The PLC is the Vascular Centre for Southern Alberta, Southwestern Saskatchewan and Southeastern British Columbia. The Allied Health Department at the PLC is comprised of Rehabilitation, Social Work and Spiritual Care staff. These staff work as vital members of the interdisciplinary team to provide patient and family-centered care throughout the hospital. Under general supervision from the Clinical Leader and Allied Health management, the successful candidate will gain experience in the assessment, treatment, education and management of patients across a variety of areas, with a particular focus on the Emergency department. At all times the Physiotherapist I will ensure that his/her practice is evidence-based and meets physical therapy clinical standards of practice. This unique position supporting the Emergency Department will allow the Physiotherapist I to provide quality responsive primary contact physiotherapy integral to optimizing patient flow through the department. Please note that all caseloads within the Allied Health department are subject to change based on operational needs.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor\'s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with members of the interdisciplinary team, patients and families in a dynamic health care setting. Excellent organizational and time management skills to efficiently organize and prioritize workload to keep pace in a busy multi-disciplinary patient care. Must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking skills is required. Provide quality, evidence based, responsive primary contact physiotherapy. Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the values of AHS - Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety. Experience working with diverse communities, groups and/or organizations (i.e. ethno-cultural, equity-setting, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, persons with disabilities, and persons across all age groups, etc.). Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working in an emergency department is an asset. Minimum 2 years\' experience as a physiotherapist working with musculoskeletal injuries is an asset. New graduates with relevant clinical experience in Musculoskeletal injuries, especially cervical and lumbar regions may be considered. Previous Connect Care training an asset.
