POSITION SUMMARY:
A Physiotherapist is a health care professional who attempts to prevent or alleviate functional problems arising from physical, psychological and/or social origins. Prevention and treatment of an impairment, disability or handicap is accomplished through the use of physical assessment, education and treatment which are based on ongoing clinical research. The goal of physiotherapy intervention is to promote quality of life, self-responsibility and independence.
Physiotherapists at SJHH play a major role in patient\xe2\x80\x99s length of stay. As one of the few professionals who usually remains constant during a patient\xe2\x80\x99s stay, PT\xe2\x80\x99s promote early discharge planning, optimize patient mobility and function and ensure patients are safe to return home. The PT supports his/her profession by advocating for or contributing themselves to an environment where ongoing learning, evidence-based practice, quality improvement and research are practiced and supported.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Bachelor\'s Degree in Physiotherapy required; Master\'s Degree in Physiotherapy preferred
-Current Registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario required
-Membership in the Canadian and Ontario Physiotherapy Associations preferred
-Hospital experience preferred
-Basic computer skills for word processing and access to information
-Excellent organizational and time management skills
-Proven ability to function well within an interdisciplinary team environment
-Able to work under pressure, prioritize workload and meet deadlines
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
-Exceptional analytical thinking and creative problem solving skills
-Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors and their families
-Gentle Persuasive Approach training preferred

HOURS OF WORK:
Rotating shifts. Must be available to work weekends.
