The Allied Services and rehabilitation team, under the Maternal, Newborn, Child & Youth and Allied Health portfolio, consists of Regulated Healthcare Professional including: Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Social Work, Registered Dietitians, Respiratory Therapy, as well as unregulated Rehabilitation Assistants. Each discipline is focused on driving evidence informed practice to promote high quality patient and family centered care.


The team has a Professional Practice Leader (PPL) model for each regulated allied health discipline which promotes and enhances the interprofessional team. Each discipline has their own PPL with dedicated time to enhance their communities of practice, represent their respective disciplines' practice and education needs, support at committees, create policies & procedures and lead corporate level initiatives.

Supporting adult acute clinical experience across varied settings, including adult acute inpatient medicine, adult acute inpatient surgery, adult ambulatory care clinics Professional Development & Education Support through RVH Education Trust Fund. Growing and developing clinical skills within the acute care setting with the support and collaboration of an experienced and committed clinical team.

We are currently seeking a

temporary full time Physiotherapist

in the fall of 2025 until approximately May 2027 to support our Critical Care areas (ICU and CCU).


As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:


Education:




Graduate of an accredited Physiotherapy school or university with a clinical Masters in Physiotherapy (or equivalent) - Mandatory Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario -mandatory Member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association - preferred Evidence of continuing education in Acute Care Physiotherapy .

Experience:




Recent experience with a varied clinical practice in acute care (medical and surgical) and/or rehabilitation setting. Prior critical care experiences is beneficial. A strong theoretical and practical knowledge of musculoskeletal, neurological and cardiorespiratory skills. Knowledge of community services, supports, and equipment vendors is beneficial. Knowledge of referral process to follow-up services such as rehabilitation, community physiotherapy, rehabilitation day program, home and community care, complex-continuing care, or repatriation to discharge destination.





Competencies:




Ability to function co-operatively as part of an interprofessional treatment team. Possess comprehensive assessment, treatment, and documentation skills Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrate sound clinical judgment, flexibility and initiative Ability to communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and other professionals. Superior organizational and time management skills are essential to management of the caseload.

Ability to learn about, from, and with other members of the patient care team to foster a strong interprofessional model of care. * Demonstrate an ability to appreciate the importance of, and be open to, new concepts and trends in the academic and clinical areas of health care knowledge
