Hiring Unit: McGill University Advancement, Annual Giving, Phonathon

Job Title: Phonathon Caller

Classification: B

Salary: $16.50 per hour. 4% vacation pay and compensation for Legal Holidays will be included on each pay

Duration: September 8 - December 19, 2025

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 5:00pm - 9:00pm, Sunday 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Estimated Number of Hours Per Week: 8

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent may perform some or all of the listed general administration functions. These functions are of moderate complexity and the incumbent performs them using established instructions.

Typical Functions:Using established scripts, contacts alumni and parents of McGill students with the aim of securing donations for the McGill Fund and meeting established performance goals. Provides information and answers questions regarding the University's fundraising and academic initiatives. Some inquiries may require further research into the topic and escalation to the Phonathon Calling Team Lead or Phonathon Manager. Collects and enters donor data and responses into the internal database. The list of functions outlined above is representative and not a complete and detailed list of tasks which may be performed by an incumbent.

Minimum Education, Certification and ExperienceHigh School Diploma with one (1) year relevant experience in the field of work.

Other Qualifying Skills:Must be a student currently enrolled at McGill. Must have excellent verbal communication skills (English and/or French). Experience in sales or call center environment. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 3 on a scale of 0-4."*

Sommaire du poste :
Relevant du superviseur immediat, le titulaire du poste effectue certaines (ou la totalite) des taches administratives de nature generale enumerees. Ces taches sont d'une complexite moderee et le titulaire du poste les execute en suivant les instructions etablies.
Fonctions types:A l'aide de scenarios etablis, communiquer avec les anciens etudiants et les parents d'etudiants de l'Universite dans le but d'obtenir des dons pour le Fonds McGill et d'atteindre les objectifs de rendement etablis. Donner de l'information et repondre aux questions concernant les activites de financement et les initiatives universitaires de McGill. Certaines demandes de renseignements peuvent necessiter des recherches plus poussees sur le sujet et etre transmises au chef d'equipe, Telephonistes appelants, (Phonathon) ou au gestionnaire de ce dernier. Recueillir et saisir les donnees et les reponses des donateurs dans la base de donnees interne. Les taches enumerees ci-dessus sont representatives, mais ne constituent pas une liste complete et detaillee des taches qui pourraient etre executees par le titulaire du poste.

Formation et experience minimales requises :Diplome d'etudes secondaires. Un (1) an d'experience connexe.

Autres competences et/ou aptitudes:Doit etre inscrit en tant qu'etudiant a l'Universite McGill. Excellentes competences en communication (anglais et/ou francais). Experience en vente ou dans un centre d'appel. Connaissance du francais et de l'anglais: L'Universite McGill est une universite de langue anglaise ou les taches quotidiennes peuvent necessiter une communication verbale et ecrite en anglais. Le niveau d'anglais requis pour ce poste a ete determine comme etant de niveau # 3 sur une echelle de 0-4.*
