We are a fully centralized Integrated Research Organization (IRO) specializing in conducting Phase I-IV clinical trials in over 35 therapeutic areas: inpatient and outpatient; pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device trials.


About the Role




We're seeking a Casual/PRN Phlebotomist / Laboratory Specialist to perform routine laboratory sample collection, processing, and shipping for clinical research studies. This role also supports data management, research administrative tasks, and recruitment initiatives. You'll help ensure high-quality specimen handling, participant safety, and smooth laboratory operations while working closely with study teams and participants.




What You'll Do



Collect, process, and ship specimens per study protocols, lab manuals, and SOPs Perform phlebotomy, blood glucose testing, ECGs, vitals, and other clinical procedures Perform PBMC collection, isolation, cryopreservation, and maintain associated supplies and documentation Maintain laboratory equipment, perform calibration and maintenance, and respond to temperature excursions Assist with CRF data entry, investigational product accountability, database queries, and study document management Support recruitment initiatives and maintain organized clinical and lab spaces Assist Research Management and Investigators with other study tasks as needed



You Might Be a Great Fit If You:



Have experience performing phlebotomy, ECGs, vitals, PBMC collection, and other point-of-care testing Understand laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and regulatory requirements, or are eager to learn quickly Hold a Laboratory Technician or Assistant program completion (Canada) or High School Diploma/GED (US); certifications such as OSMT, CSMLS, MLT, or Medical Laboratory Technician are a plus Have prior experience in clinical research (Phase I-IV) or healthcare/lab environments Are organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Communicate professionally and collaborate effectively with participants, staff, and external partners Take pride in maintaining accurate documentation, logs, and regulatory records

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum:




Canada: Completion of a Laboratory Technician or Assistant program at a recognized College or University. A minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience, preferably in a clinical research environment US: HS/GED

Preferred:



Canada:
OSMT, CSMLS certified or equivalent


MLT diploma or certification, an asset


Phase I-IV Clinical Research experience is considered a strong asset

US:
Medical Laboratory Technician


Experience performing nasal swabs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS



Physical demands include but not limited to prolonged sitting, light lifting, standing, reaching, walking, and bending. Frequently required to complete work on the computer in a seated position May be required to lift light boxes (10 - 20lbs)

WORKING CONDITIONS



Modern medical office environment. Required to follow all healthcare industry OHSA and OSHA guidelines Required to perform duties in relation to PHIPA, HIPAA, PIDEDA Some positions may require overnight/weekend hours
