QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY:
Licensed Pharmacy Technologist in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCPP) .
Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician program .
Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Evidence of currency of practice as required by SCPP.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum one year of recent experience working as a regulated Pharmacy Technologist in a community or hospital pharmacy setting.
Experience with sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, or hospital dispensary workflows is considered an asset.
Familiarity with Saskatchewan prescription regulations, billing procedures, and scopes of practice.
SKILLS & ABILITY:
High proficiency with pharmacy management software , drug information systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug dispensing procedures, and inventory management.
Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team including pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Ability to exercise professional judgment within the Pharmacy Technologist scope of practice and according to SCPP standards.

BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs according to the Standards of Practice for Pharmacy Technicians set out by the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals and in compliance with all clinic/pharmacy policies and procedures.
Accepts professional accountability for all delegated technical aspects of drug distribution and medication management.
Participates as a collaborative member of the pharmacy team, contributing to safe and effective medication dispensing processes.
Complies with The Code of Ethics and regulatory expectations established by the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Accurately receive, process, and prepare prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Perform final technical checks on prescriptions, when permitted under SCPP regulations.
Compound non-sterile and/or sterile preparations according to NAPRA standards, policies, and established aseptic technique.
Maintain accurate patient profiles , ensuring correct documentation of allergies, medication changes, and relevant information.
Manage inventory , including ordering drugs, checking expiry dates, handling controlled substances, and addressing shortages.
Prepare and package medications for unit dose, blister packs, or automated dispensing systems .
Assist with medication reconciliation processes and support pharmacists in gathering medication histories.
Provide patient education within the Pharmacy Technologist scope (e.g., device demonstrations, compliance packaging instructions).
Support pharmacists in clinical services by organizing documentation, preparing materials, and coordinating follow-up tasks.
Conduct equipment checks, maintain work areas, and follow all sterile compounding cleanroom requirements if applicable.
Ensure compliance with Saskatchewan legislation , SCPP practice standards, and federal/provincial drug regulations.
Identify and report medication discrepancies, safety concerns, or workflow issues to the supervising pharmacist.
When required, assist in coordinating referrals, delivering medication to appropriate departments, or facilitating communication with healthcare teams.
