Position Summary
:
The Pharmacy Systems Technician has excellent expertise and in-depth knowledge of the operation of Pharmacy Services. The Pharmacy Systems Technician coordinates the development and management of all aspects of the pharmacy automation systems, including the installation and verification of software, hardware and upgrades, development and creation of reports, development of associated policies and procedures; provision of instruction and training to pharmacy and nursing staff and ongoing optimization and maintenance of the pharmacy automation systems. The Pharmacy Systems Technician works collaboratively with the Pharmacy IT Analyst to optimize system integration between the pharmacy information system and pharmacy automation. The incumbent will work with the pharmacy leadership team to develop goals and objectives for safe medication distribution, and participates in fiscal management of the WRHN drug budget by Automated Dispensing Unit (ADU) stock optimization, and drug wastage and expired drug management.
The Pharmacy Systems Technician provides pharmaceutical statistics and reports for Pharmacy, Nursing and Management staff on a monthly and as needed basis. The Pharmacy Systems Technician audits reports for efficient use of the system, and to comply with established regulations and standards of practice
Position Requirements:
Regulated pharmacy technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy automation experience
Good working knowledge of the automation software and automated dispensing cabinet/unit
Demonstrated thorough knowledge of modern hospital pharmacy practice with a minimum of 5 years hospital experience
Demonstrated experience using productivity software such as Word, Excel, and Power Point
Process design and systems integration skills
Excellent organization, prioritization, negotiation, conflict resolution, planning, problem-solving, and project management skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a focus on effective communication, team-management and a strong ability in providing customer focused service
