Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Westlock Hospital Pharmacy Team, Pharmacy Technicians will work with Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists working to their full scope of practice. Under the limited supervision of the Operations Manager, Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively with the health care team performing moderately complex duties, performing all aspects of drug distribution to provide the efficient daily operation of all departmental services leading to safe and quality patient care. Casual positions are short notice call in, shifts are not routinely scheduled. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: distribution related tasks, order entry, repackaging, providing final product checking as required by Regulated health professionals, knowledge of purchasing, receiving, and inventory control of pharmaceuticals to minimize outdated medications, and provision of ward stock. Assisting with training of staff hires and students. Providing clinical support by obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifying discrepancies to support the provision of direct patient care. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues, providing zone support to program when required. Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as compounding, computer order entry, and final product checking. Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications:

2+ Years Regulated Pharmacy Technician with Alberta College of Pharmacists. Previous Hospital Pharmacy experience including but not limited to: patient order entry and verification, repackaging of medications, certified for final product checking, non-sterile compounding, drug distribution such as unit dose & ward stock, inventory medication management and procurement. Demonstrate proficiency in the following: communication (verbal and written), interpersonal abilities, organizational and problem solving skills, ability to work independently and in teams as required, computer skills, continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Meditech Computer Software: 1+ yr experience in patient specific order entry & dispensing, and inventory management. Must be in good physical condition as majority of shift involves: typing, static positions, heavy lifting, standing, crouching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking and standing for extended periods of time. Preferred Qualifications:

Clinically Deployed Experience - BPMH/Med Review Trained As Applicable (Non-Sterile Compounding Preparation & Certified). Preceptor for Technician Student Learning Rotations.
