The GBGH Pharmacy Technicians work in a collaborative environment with pharmacists and other Health Care Professionals. Our up to date medication management system uses automation (TCGRx interfaced packager, Pyxis Automated Dispensing units, Bar Code scanning) to support patient safety and workflow efficiency. Technicians are progressively trained in duties including packaging, dispensing/checking of first doses, unit dose daily bin fill/exchange, inventory management, collection of BPMH and sterile compounding with opportunities to be involved in quality improvement initiatives.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEThe ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies:

  • College diploma or University degree
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician (hospital experience preferred)
  • Experience in purchasing and inventory management
  • Must possess a basic knowledge of computer and keyboarding skills
  • Experience with Meditech as an asset
  • Must be able to work with a diverse team and to work independently within the defined scope of practice
  • Must be comfortable interacting with patients and families
  • Nature of work requires consistent accuracy and attention to detail
  • Nature of work requires the ability to multitask in a busy environment
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance record
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in English and French considered an asset
HOURS OF WORK
Permanent Casual. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the OPSEU collective agreement.BENEFITS & PERKS
