Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

Job Overview: As a Pharmacy Technician at our facility, you will be an essential member of the healthcare team, working closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of medications to patients. Your role will involve a combination of patient care, medication administration, and maintaining accurate records to support optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

- Assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications to patients and provide counseling on medication use.

- Fill prescriptions and manage pharmacy workflow.

- Billing to private and government insurance.

- Booking patient appointments with the telemedicine clinic.

- Assist the pharmacist with compounding.

- Cleaning (as needed)

- Placing orders using McKesson, reviewing delivery invoices, and returning expired product to McKesson.

- Assist with urine sample testing for the True North Clinic.

- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective therapy of medications.

- Review and interpret prescription orders to verify accuracy and appropriateness.

- Monitor patient responses to medication therapy and recommend adjustments when necessary.

- Maintain precise and complete patient medication records for documentation and regulatory compliance.

- Educate patients on proper medication administration techniques and potential side effects.

- Participate in medication reconciliation processes to ensure seamless continuity of care.

- Stay updated on new medications, dosage forms, and treatment guidelines to provide accurate information to patients.

Requirements:

- Proficiency in English and French is required.

- Proficiency in medical terminology, medication administration, and pharmacy operations.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and customer service.

- Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician or related role is required.

- Experience with Kroll is preferred.

- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is a plus but not mandatory.
