We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacy operations, particularly in long-term care (LTC) and acute care settings. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting patient care by ensuring the safe and effective administration of medications while providing exceptional service to patients and healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, including intravenous (IV) infusions, while adhering to aseptic techniques.
Provide patient service by addressing inquiries regarding medications, dosages, and potential side effects with clarity and professionalism.
Maintain accurate medication records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards within the pharmacy.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate medication intake processes for patients in critical care environments.
Utilize medical terminology effectively to communicate with healthcare professionals regarding patient needs and medication management.
Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels of medications and supplies, ensuring timely replenishment as needed.
Participate in quality assurance initiatives to enhance pharmacy operations and improve patient outcomes.
Foster a positive working environment that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement within the pharmacy team.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a hospital or LTC pharmacy setting.
Familiarity with IV infusion preparation and administration techniques is essential.
Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmacology and patient care practices.
Experience in acute care environments is highly desirable, along with critical care experience.
Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Knowledge of aseptic techniques and adherence to safety protocols in medication handling.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with pharmacists, healthcare providers, and patients.
