Our Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively with the health care team performing moderately complex duties; such as clinical supporting roles, full scope of practice, and responsibilities related to all aspects of drug distribution. Under limited supervision of the Operations Manager and in collaboration with the Zonal and Provincial safety teams, performs moderately complex duties and responsibilities related to all aspects of medication safety and inventory, to provide for the effective daily operation and maintenance of all medications and programs leading to pharmaceutical care. Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications:

2 years + experience in the last 5 years in pediatrics. 2 years + experience and valid certification in sterile compounding and non-sterile compounding. Checking of interim doses, all aspects of cartfills, sterile compounding and non-sterile compounding. 2 years + experience in the last 5 years in all aspects of Chemotherapy; including but not limited to receiving, embedded worksheet setup, recent certification for preparation, checking and medication distribution. 1 year + Connect Care/Epic computer program experience. Knowledge of all aspects of drug distribution such as ward stock and narcotics. Knowledge of Epic and day to day use of the application. Investigational and Special Access Drugs knowledge. Experience with medication reconciliation in a clinical setting. Prior hospital experience. Must be able to withstand long periods of sitting, standing and walking. It is a requirement to be able to work with chemotherapy and/or hazardous drugs. It is a requirement to be able to work at our satellite NICU at Foothills Medical Center. It is a requirement to be able to work all shifts including on-call duty (2245-0700). Must have excellent organizational, problem-solving and decision-making ability. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate an excellent customer service attitude. Applications without the resume and cover letter attached may not be considered. Preferred Qualifications:

In addition, the successful incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following: Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated computer (windows-based computer applications) and typing skills. Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning.
