Description:

PlThe operations manager of the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) pharmacy department is a key leadership role within the Edmonton Zone pharmacy operations team and reports to the Director of Pharmacy. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership, and organization over the activities at the RAH in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services and Pharmacy Services. The position is also responsible and accountable for establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the RAH Pharmacy Department. The operations manager will develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders, including patient care area leaders, zone and site support services, and union representatives to ensure that issues impacting the pharmacy are identified and addressed. The operations manager of the pharmacy department will participate in the strategic planning for the program and their assigned areas of accountability. The manager operationalizes approved plans to ensure program delivery is consistent with broader organizational objectives. The position is responsible for managing operations, utilization, and quality improvement activities at the RAH, in collaboration with other members of the management team. The operations manager is responsible for the direct supervision of pharmacy technicians and works with the pharmacy director to determine the human, financial and material resources within the assigned program areas. This will include planning for staff, training, budget, equipment and supply requirements, monitoring expenditures, and identifying trends and variances.

Required Qualifications:

Active or eligible for registration as a pharmacy technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:

At least two years of hospital pharmacy technician experience. A demonstrated clear pattern of planned, purposeful professional development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:

Progressive leadership experience. Leadership skills, including decision making, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated commitment to the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of Pharmacy Services. Effective communication skills, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to providing quality services. Demonstrated ability to create solutions for complex and diverse issues and manage change.
