Pharmacy Experiential Learning Assessment and Program Development Specialist

Primary Purpose: As a member of the Experiential Learning (EL) team, the Assessment and Program Development Specialist will assist with the development and assessment of practice experiences in community, hospital, and other related settings, for students in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. Nature of Work: The goal of the PharmD program is to graduate pharmacists who use their medication therapy expertise to benefit patients, communities, and populations. Experiential learning plays a significant role in ensuring our graduates have the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies necessary to enter practice. Reporting to the Associate Dean Academic and the Associate Director, Experiential Learning, the successful applicant will function with a high level of independence, decision-making and accountability. This position also requires short, medium, and long-term planning, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, preceptors, faculty, and staff. Typical Duties or Accountabilities: As a member of the EL team, the successful applicant will be involved in coordinating experiential learning activities (service learning, immersions, and placements) for all years of the PharmD program. Activities related to this include:
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of EL courses for all years of the PharmD program
  • Develop and maintain assessment tools, and related documents
  • Create and facilitate student learning opportunities to enhance success in the EL Program, including orientation activities, check ins, and remediation support
  • Ensure effective communication with sites, preceptors, and student
  • Develop, coordinate, and administrate preceptor training and ongoing professional development
  • Generate, use, and share quality improvement data from student and preceptor feedback
  • Audit compliance with site and rotation requirements, and support sites and preceptors in maintaining high-quality EL experiences
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of projects and initiatives in achievement of stated goals
  • Collaborate with other health science programs and practice sites to advance interprofessional education opportunities
  • Liaise with EL colleagues from other Canadian faculties of Pharmacy to facilitate knowledge sharing and innovation
  • Work collaboratively with wide variety of teaching and learning stakeholders in consultation, committee work, and partnerships
  • Seek opportunities to disseminate innovation in the USask PharmD EL program through presentations, publications, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean Academic
Qualifications Education: A first professional degree in Pharmacy (e.g. Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or PharmD). Licenses: The successful applicant must be licensed (or eligible to be licensed) to practice pharmacy in Saskatchewan Experience: At least 3 years of pharmacy practice experience. Previous teaching and evaluation of students and/or experience with assessment methodologies considered an asset.

Skills: Demonstrated understanding of current pharmacy practice and experiential learning; ability to work independently and as part of a team; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; effective time management and organizational skills; self-motivation and high level of initiative; strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively embrace change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; familiarity with Microsoft Office, Canvas, CORE Experiential Learning Management System, and Cascade is considered an asset.
