to support day-to-day operations at our independent
compounding pharmacy
. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting in prescription processing, compounding support, inventory management, and patient service in a
paperless Kroll environment
. This is a
low-traffic pharmacy
focused on patient care, OTCs, and home health products.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Prescription Processing & Data Entry
Accurately receive, interpret, and enter new prescriptions and refills into
Kroll paperless
pharmacy management software.
Confirm patient information, medication directions, and prescriber details for each entry.
Print and prepare prescription labels, auxiliary labels, and related documentation.
2.
Compounding Support
Assist the pharmacist in
non-sterile compounding preparations
Clean and maintain compounding equipment, workstations, and supplies as per
Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
standards.
Organize and label bulk ingredients and ensure expiry dates are monitored and recorded.
3.
Customer Service & Patient Interaction
Greet customers in a professional and friendly manner, providing support with prescription pick-up, OTC recommendations, and general inquiries.
Answer telephone calls, manage voicemails, and relay messages accurately to the pharmacist.
Provide product information for home health care items and assist with proper sizing and selection of
braces, supports, and compression stockings
, referring to the pharmacist as needed.
4.
Inventory & Stock Control
Receive, verify, and shelve incoming medication and product orders; ensure invoices match shipments.
Monitor drug and product inventory (including OTC and home health supplies), identify low stock, and assist with order placement.
Track and manage
expiry dates
, rotate stock, and remove expired items from inventory promptly.
5.
Administrative & Compliance Support
Maintain accurate patient records, compounding logs, and documentation required under regulatory guidelines.
Assist in preparing compliance packaging or blister packs.
Ensure daily tasks comply with privacy and regulatory requirements (e.g.,
PHIPA
,
OCP
,
Narcotic reconciliation
).
6.
Dispensary Organization & Maintenance
Ensure a clean, organized, and professional workspace throughout the dispensary, compounding area, and front store.
Restock supplies such as vials, labels, and auxiliary materials.
Perform daily opening and closing tasks, including cash handling (if applicable), cleaning, and system backups.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma (minimum); Pharmacy Assistant certificate preferred
Previous
community pharmacy experience
preferred; compounding experience is an asset
Familiarity with
Kroll paperless software
(training can be provided)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work independently in a
low-volume, solo-assistant environment

Pay: From $17.60 per hour
