Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team at Earl's Pharmacy in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Patient Focused Care Responsibilities:
Support pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in providing high-quality patient care
Greet customers and answer phone calls in a professional manner
Assist with entering, labelling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
Accurately count, measure, and package medications according to established protocols
Receive and stock medication and supply shipments, monitor inventory levels, rotate stock, and support inventory audits
Independent complex order entry, address insurance claims and billing issues, flag concerns to pharmacists, and ensure accurate paperwork submission.
Keep the pharmacy area clean and organized; safely dispose of expired medications and hazardous waste according to regulations
Perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and assist with insurance claims and prescription transfers
Assist pharmacists with clerical tasks, report printing, and distribution
Audit narcotic prescriptions and schedule outdated pharmaceutical reviews.
Handle expired medications and returns to McKesson.
Manage McKesson orders and coordinate with secondary suppliers.
Assist with daily pharmacy operations and perform other duties as assigned.
Long-Term Care Home Visits:
A valid driver's licence is required, along with access to a reliable personal motor vehicle for weekly Long-Term Care Home visits.
Reimbursement will be provided for the use of your personal motor vehicle for these trips.
Conduct weekly visits for refills, med returns, audits, and stat box management.
Support monthly billing and batch fill processes.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant in a retail pharmacy with?a preliminary understanding of the pharmacy business.
Care home experience is considered beneficial.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to thrive in a team environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience in advanced skills (e.g., Compounding, automation, central fill, compliance packaging, OAT).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and pharmacy software, Kroll is an asset.
Ability to stand for long periods and occasional lifting of boxes/containers
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Schedule:
40 hours per week.
The usual shifts will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
