Neighbourly Pharmacy is looking for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Saskatoon-Central, SK location at Earl's Pharmacy.

Reporting to the Store Operator/Pharmacy Manager, and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this role is responsible for performing specific dispensing functions as outlined by provincial regulations and standards of practice. Candidates must possess a reliable motor vehicle for occasional care home visits.

40 hours per week. The usual shift will be Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Dispensing

The pharmacy assistant must always be under the supervision of a pharmacist. All dispensing functions performed by a pharmacy assistant must follow provincial regulations and practice standards.

Receive a written prescription from customers. Locate the medication, select the prescription container, and count/pour the medication. Attach the label to the prescription container. Ensure that the original container, prescription container contents, and label are checked and initialled by the pharmacist. Regularly phone customers for unclaimed prescriptions.

Pharmacy Operations

Perform other tasks as outlined by the pharmacy manager or staff pharmacists. To include:

Supporting pharmacists in clerical tasks, printing and distributing reports. Triaging emails, taking payments, assisting front store customers. Packing up care home deliveries. Medication management for pouch changes Daily cycle counts and inventory management, Removing and processing expired meds, returns to McKesson. Oversight of McKesson ordering. Ordering dispensing supplies, ordering from secondary suppliers. Assisting with monthly care home billing, batch fill billing. Care Home tasks: weekly home visits to pickup and process refills, returned meds, signing for returned medications, med room audits, management of stat box, ward stocks and contingency meds. Auditing narcotic prescriptions. Keep all areas of the pharmacy clean, neat, and professional. Maintain adequate stock of pharmacy supplies. Answer the pharmacy telephone, except for the doctor's line, which should be answered by a pharmacist. All doctors' calls and inquiries regarding prescriptions, copies, drug information, and poisons must be referred to a pharmacist. Assist with third-party billing. Set up a schedule for outdated pharmaceuticals. Assist with inventory control. Assist with checking off and putting away pharmaceutical orders. Maintain stocks of pamphlets/consumer information. Maintain OTC/non-prescription sections, as designated.

Experience:

Pharmacy Assistant: 1 year (Required)

Qualifications & Skills:

At least one year of Pharmacy Assistant experience. Retail Pharmacy experience is an asset. Kroll experience is an asset. Your own motor vehicle is required for care home visits. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Able to work independently and have experience multi-tasking. Professional attitude and ability to communicate well with customers and co-workers. Due to this position's sensitive nature, the successful candidate must complete a Criminal Record Check.
