In this position, you are expected to perform the duties and responsibilities necessary or incidental to the duties of a Pharmacy Assistant/Helper. The primary duties include:
Assist in processing prescription orders by entering data for new and repeat prescriptions, labeling, and packaging under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Accurately count, measure, and package prescription medications, including counting pills, labeling bottles and creams, and preparing other drugs as directed.
Perform blister pack filling.
Receive, unpack, and stock incoming shipments of medications and supplies, take inventory of drugs on hand, record results, and conduct behind-the-counter cycle counts.
Review and adhere to pharmacy processes and procedures including special programs (i.e Progyny, shipping via Purolator)
Handle administrative tasks such as sending and receiving faxes, scanning documents, taking measurements, and creating estimates for insurance claims related to compression therapy.
Greet and assist customers/patients with general inquiries and refer to pharmacist for any questions or counsel
Answer the phone in a timely manner, assisting callers
Prepare dispensed medications for delivery.
Maintain a clean and organized sales floor and front-end area, including recycling and garbage removal
Manage merchandising tasks, stock shelves, check medication and front store expiration dates, and return and dispose of expired products following established protocols.
Maintain visual standards by ensuring merchandise is displayed appropriately and attractively
Process sales by accepting cash, credit cards, or debit payment while ensuring the accuracy of transactions
Keep up to date on all in-store products to assist with sale and promotion, including Front Shop and Lottery.
Place daily product orders for the store, receive and update inventory in the system
Order and price new products in the POS system
Resolve various issues collaboratively, including customer requests, complaints, and supply shortages.
Assist Pharmacy Manager in training and supervising newly hired employees on pharmacy duties.
Compression stockings, measuring and educating on proper usage and care is an asset.
