CareRx is looking for a
Pharmacy Assistant (Entry level- Training Provided)
to join our Pharmacy team in supporting a group of LTC Homes and Retirement Communities. The Pharmacy Assistant will assist with the preparation, packaging and organization of medication deliveries, while supporting daily operations in accordance with the Pharmacy Standards of Practice.

Key Responsibilities
On-Site LTC Home Support
Stocking and Restocking Medications:
+ Ensure the automated dispensing cabinets are properly stocked with required medications.
+ Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to the pharmacy.
+ Return unused or expired medications per home and pharmacy protocols. Order Scanning and Verification:
+ Scan physician orders, ensuring completeness (e.g., resident identifiers, drug name, dosage, frequency).
+ Verify that documentation meets requirements before submission to the pharmacy
+ Flag incomplete or unclear orders and follow up with nurses or prescribers for clarification. Perform routine audits of the medication management system
+ Audit for expired medications on carts, in stock rooms, and fridges
+ Inspect medication carts, storage rooms, fridges, and ADCs for cleanliness, proper labeling and appropriate storage
+ Review individual resident charts for completeness of documentation as it pertains to medication orders
+ Complete required entries in audit platforms
Pharmacy & Administrative Support
Act as a liaison, serving as a point of contact between the pharmacy and LTC home staff (nurses, PSWs, physicians)
Collaborate with a clinical consultant pharmacists and nurses on audits and medication management system changes or improvements
Assist with documentation, labeling, returns, and general pharmacy support as needed
Participate in team meetings and home audits
Ensure accurate documentation, maintain confidentiality, adhere to ethical standards, and contribute to a positive work environment
Provide education on the medication management system
Help facilitate training sessions for clients
Qualifications & Skills
Previous experience in a pharmacy assistant role, preferably in a long-term care or community pharmacy setting
Comfortable working on-site independently within a long-term care environment
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and critical thinking skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work closely with clinical and administrative staff
Customer service experience and a background in quality improvement are strong assets
Understanding of LTC regulations, medication management systems, and best practices is an asset
