We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in delivering high-quality patient care within our retail pharmacy. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication administration, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Assist Pharmacy Manager in the day to day management of workload;
Collaborate with Pharmacists and other Pharmacy Assistants to fulfill prescription orders
Make Blister packs
Work independently on labeling and filling/refilling prescriptions;
Verify that customer receives correct prescription(s);
Prepare/review and process billings, claims, disbursements and related documents;
Assist patients who are picking up prescriptions;
Enter prescriptions into the computer; retrieve and/or correct data in computer;
Screen calls and gather relevant information for Pharmacist;
Order, maintain and prepare inventory of medications;
Review invoices or other documentation;
Receive and maintain accurate inventory.
The Pharmacy Assistant will also be assigned other duties and tasks as required from time to time.
Skills
Strong understanding of medical terminology related to pharmaceuticals and patient care.
Proficiency in medication administration practices and protocols.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
Experience and Educational Requirements:
Two or more years of related pharmacy experience;
Strong proficiency in Fillware required;
Experience working with methadone dispensing
Punjabi/Hindi speaking is an asset
Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
