About the Opportunity
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and in close collaboration with the Clinical Lead for the Emerging and Re-emerging Infections Network (ERIN), the Vaccine Consult Pharmacist works as a member of the interprofessional team and participates in the provision of safe, competent, person and family centered ethical care, ensuring the goals and needs of the person are prioritized and individualized. The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for disseminating evidence-based vaccination information to enhance immunization access and best-practices in NS as guided by the NS DHW Public Health Division of Communicable Disease, Prevention and Control; and the National Advisory Committee on Immunization. The Clinical Pharmacist as part of a virtual consult team, focused on principles of equitable access to vaccination care, will provide real-time support to immunization practitioners and teams serving people across Nova Scotia, with the goals of preventing unnecessary delays in immunization, optimizing vaccination rates, and ensuring the ongoing generation and maintenance of consolidated, current, ethics-informed, and evidence-based immunization resources. This role requires communication, liaison and collaboration with internal and external partners, most significantly community pharmacies, Public Health, DHW, Primary Health Care, and immunization clinics across Nova Scotia.
