Pharmaceutical Distribution
1. Oversee compounding program to ensure prepared formulas meet compounding guidelines, equipment is maintained and policies are updated as required.
2. Support optimal patient care by providing and supervising friendly, professional service to all customers.
3. Perform, supervise, and review the creation and maintenance of accurate patient profiles and medication history files.
4. Perform, supervise, and review drug preparation and distribution activities.
5. Ensure that problems identified with individual prescriptions are addressed within the appropriate time frames.
6. Verify completed prescriptions for accuracy. Ensure personally filled prescriptions are cross-verified by another pharmacy team member where possible.
7. Perform, supervise, and review the accurate adjudication and sale of prescription and other purchases using the pharmacy software and point of sale (POS) systems.
8. Provide patient counseling on prescription and non-prescription medications in accordance with the standards of practice and provincial regulatory requirements.
9. Complete appropriate documentation and follow filing procedures.
10. Manage situations involving drug diversion or inappropriate use.
11. Document all medication incidents using the appropriate reporting protocols.
12. Maintain a safe productive work environment through compliance with quality control policies and procedures.
Professional Services
13. In partnership with patients and other health care providers, meet patients' drug-related needs to achieve safe and affective patient outcomes.
14. Provide customers with education and drug information to ensure safe and effective care and to promote health.
15. Document pharmacy services rendered, course of action, and outcome achieved, as the direct result of providing professional services.
16. Act as a Pharmasave ambassador to the community through the provision of programs including clinics, personal health solutions, and community seminars.
17. Build professional relationships with patients, customers, other health care providers, and industry members
Administration
18. Supervise dispensary and store personnel to ensure delegated functions are carried out to meet accepted standards.
19. Comply with federal and provincial regulations along with store procedures to maintain the security of the narcotics, pharmaceuticals, and other store assets.
20. Ensure that customer confidentiality is maintained at all times in compliance with privacy legislation and professional standards.
21. Assist Store Owner and dispensary team to develop and implement a pharmacy services plan which achieves the professional and financial objectives of the dispensary.
22. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions and supervise the training of other dispensary staff as required to maintain efficient workflow within the dispensary and professional areas of the pharmacy.
23. Actively review all pharmacy communications sent to the dispensary from the Pharmasave offices and other industry organizations.
24. Promote programs and Pharmasave brand products to patients, customers, and other health care providers and stakeholders.
General Duties
25. Carry out any additional duties as delegated by Management.
26. Ensure all store training is completed within required time frames.
27. Maintain a professional image, including name tag, and proper grooming.
28. Follow all store opening and closing procedures.
29. Operate cash register according to store policy, verifying customer purchases and issuing receipts.
30. Assist with customer inquiries and call for assistance when needed.
31. Ensure staff and customer safety by addressing or reporting potential barriers or hazards on store property.
32. Communicate to Management any issues requiring follow up or needing attention.
Qualifications
B.Sc.Phm or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
Active pharmacist license
Strong patient care skills and knowledge of medical terminology
Experience in specialty compounding
Ability to maintain accurate filing and documentation practices
