We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for patients, providing expert advice on drug therapies, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience in a hospital setting, particularly in acute care and pediatrics, and possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication administration.
Job Summary
As a licensed Pharmacist in Ontario, you will be responsible for dispensing medications accurately, providing patient-centered pharmaceutical care, and ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and standards. You will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and the team at Bell Pharmacy to optimize medication therapy and promote health and wellness within the community. *
Responsibilities
Dispense medications accurately and safely by performing clinical and product verification.
Provide OTC and prescription counselling.
Practice to the fullest extent of the expanded scope of practice.
Offer professional services such MedsCheck, minor ailments, immunizations, injections, etc.
Monitor patient health and progress to ensure medications are effective and safe.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate patient medication plans.
Maintain accurate patient records regarding medication dosages, administration times, and progress.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Maintain accurate patient and prescription records.
Ensure compliance with Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) regulations, privacy legislation, and pharmacy policies.
Oversee pharmacy technicians and assistants. Supervise and mentor staff.
Assist in inventory management and ordering medications and supplies.
Monitor for drug shortages and recommend alternatives as needed.
Ensure safe storage and handling of medications, including narcotics and controlled substances.
Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
Active pharmacist license in Ontario and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP).
Authorization to administer injections in Ontario.
Strong knowledge of the Ontario Drug Benefit program.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacotherapy and pharmaceutical calculations.
Prior experience in community pharmacy preferred.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare providers.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Proficiency with pharmacy software PropelRx preferred.
