ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a competent and dedicated
Pharmacist Instructor for our Pharmacy Technician Program
to join our team at Anderson College's
Mississauga Campus
. The ideal candidate will have previous experience teaching adults and be passionate about helping mature students achieve their goals.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Working closely with the Program Coordinator, the college instructor teaches in discipline areas in which they have specific training and competence. As such, the instructor is expected to plan, organize, and teach in a manner that aligns with the values of Anderson College.
Important:
The instructor will be leading the classes at the Mississauga Campus; once or twice a week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Must be a licensed pharmacist, to qualify teaching the Pharmacology course of the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Administrative
Assist with tracking student hours per college procedures
Attend graduation ceremonies
Implement and follow the policies and procedures established by the college
Participate in meetings with staff when required
Participate in student orientations
Maintain proper records of student meetings
Submit monthly reports to the Program Coordinator in accordance with Accreditation standards
Instructional
Teach students using a systematic plan that consists of lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, interactive activities, and independent or group projects
Inform students, beforehand, of the basis upon which their performance will be evaluated
Organize and effectively use classroom time
Use instructional techniques and methods that recognize and take into account the needs and learning capacities of students
Modify techniques during instruction in response to the needs of the students
Assist students in developing efficient learning skills and work habits
Ensure all course objectives and modules are taught according to the program schedules
Implement course outlines and daily breakdowns
Modify course outlines in light of the needs of the students
Establish an appropriate atmosphere in the classroom that is conducive to learning
Maintain fair, firm, and consistent discipline with the students
Regularly monitor student progress and adjust courses accordingly
Prepare teaching materials and outlines for courses
Prepare, administer, and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress
Provide individualized tutorial or remedial instruction to students who require it
Supervise independent or group projects
Base the evaluation of students on the guidelines established by the College
Ensure that student evaluations are appropriate, accurate, and complete
Keep accurate and complete records of student performance
Ensure all evaluation records are regularly updated on the college's electronic server
Prepare final examinations following guidelines established in the course outline
Provide timely feedback to students regarding academic progress
Other
Maintain complete and accurate documentation in all areas of responsibility
Maintain professional registration through the appropriate governing body
Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION
Must be a licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP)
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPhm), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or equivalent
Experience teaching adult learners is an asset
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 24 months of professional experience in pharmacy practice (community or hospital)
Teaching or mentoring experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE
Familiarity with Private Career Colleges and adult education principles is an asset
Understanding of the Private Career Colleges Act is an asset
SKILLS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with Google Mail, Docs, and Calendar
Experience with Adobe and learning platforms such as Brightspace/D2L (training will be provided)
Strong communication and organizational skills
ABILITIES
Manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively
Deliver engaging and professional lectures and demonstrations
Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, staff, and external partners
