Your Opportunity:
This is a multi-site position between Mayerthorpe and Whitecourt Health Care Facilities. As a member of the Alberta Health Services Pharmacy Services team, the Pharmacist I will provide high quality direct patient care for acute care and LTC beds as well as consultative care for patients in the emergency department. The Pharmacist I supports drug distribution functions with the technician and/or assistant team at the site. The pharmacist will also: actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds; collaborate with patients, physicians and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care; utilize Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize patient medication regimens; optimize therapy for acute and chronic disease management; empower patients in managing their medical conditions through promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, education and direct patient care; facilitate smooth transitions between care settings; actively participate in professional practice development and growth with support from dedicated Clinical Practice Leaders and pharmacy managers. The pharmacy team in the NE Zone also offers support to other teams across the zone as required. Additional benefits are available in the form of monetary compensation per the HSAA Union agreement due to the challenges in attracting Pharmacists to the rural and suburban areas of the province. A recruitment bonus of up to six thousand dollars ($6,000.00) for a one (1) year commitment is available for new pharmacy graduates and non-Alberta Health Services pharmacists. This value is pro-rated to FTE. Funds will be paid out in a lump sum of seventy-five percent (75%) upon hire and the remaining twenty-five percent (25%) at the end of term of the agreed to service.

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
