The Pharmacist is responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy during their shift. This includes dispensing medications accurately, providing patient consultations, promoting disease prevention, and ensuring proper maintenance and organization of the dispensary. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a compassionate, culturally sensitive approach to patient care.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversees the distribution of medication, ensuring prescriptions and potential drug interactions are appropriate
Provide patients with accurate consultations regarding drug usage, side effects and health management related to their treatment
Adhere to all regulations under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, maintain proper documentation, and ensure the pharmacy operates within legal guidelines
Collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals and institutions involved in patients' treatment plans
Manage pharmacy stock levels, including ordering inventory and identifying expired medications
Ensure all confidentiality requirements are met while delivering excellent customer service
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of an approved Pharmacy Degree program in Alberta, with proof of doctorate (required)
o
Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check (required)
o
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR certifications (required)
o
Previous experience in Pharmacy, both clinical and community (preferred)
o
Knowledge of Kroll, NetCare and other pharmacy systems (preferred)
o
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to execute solutions to complex problems
o
Ability to coordinate and delegate tasks while providing support to colleagues
o
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring that all health and safety regulations are followed to promote a safe working environment
o
Exceptional communication and customer relations skills, marked by professionalism and compassion
o
Well-equipped to collaborate with other healthcare professionals
o
Requires active registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacists
o
Have high standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The Pharmacist will be required to work shifts throughout the hours of 8:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday and 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturdays in a clinical/community setting while adhering to the Enoch Cree Nation Resources Policy & Procedures Manual.
