About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and in close collaboration with the Clinical Lead for the Emerging and Re-emerging Infections Network (ERIN) and the Co-Leads for the Nova Scotia Health Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Program, the Emerging and Re-emerging Infections Team AMS Pharmacist works as a member of the interprofessional team and participates in the provision of safe, competent, person and family centered ethical care, ensuring the goals and needs of the person are prioritized and individualized. The Pharmacist will engage in key stewardship initiatives targeting emerging and re-emerging respiratory infections, sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, and antimicrobial resistance, by fostering evidence-based, patient-centered, safe, effective, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care in clinical practice across Nova Scotia. This role includes the development, coordination, and promotion of AMS knowledge translation initiatives, including activities aimed to encourage the appropriate use of antimicrobial therapy in populations impacted by emerging and re-emerging infections. The Pharmacist implements prospective audits and feedback rounds, monitors and reports performance indicators related to AMS; summarizes antimicrobial utilization data; develops clinical pathways, order sets and guidelines; is a member in a variety of committees associated with the ERIN and AMS Program; organizes and provides education; precepts learners; serves as an AMS clinical resource for health care teams; and participates in AMS quality improvement and research initiatives.
