They are members who have demonstrated attainment of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Public Health Nurse, and have built an in-depth knowledge in Infection Prevention and how to apply this knowledge within the community setting.As a member of the Public Health team, the Lead possesses advanced knowledge of Public Health practice and supports the development of practice in Public Health. They demonstrate a strong understanding of planning cycles, learning cycles, and quality improvement processes. The Lead helps to advance the skills and abilities of others within the Public Health team with respect to Infection Prevention knowledge and understanding.Reporting to the Manager, Health Protection, Strategic Policy and Planning, the Community Infection Prevention Lead provides an expert level of advice to support and coordinate consistent and quality practice across the public health system and within the community setting with partners. The Program Lead provides advanced knowledge, leadership and coordination in the area of Infection Prevention. This position is responsible to work with the provincial Health Protection teams, zone Health Protection Teams and managers to strengthen skills, competencies and achievement amongst the public health workforces.This position is a key support for consistent and quality practice across zones. The Lead supports the development of evidence, creates processes based on best practice related to Infection Prevention and the communicable disease and standards and protocols. The position works closely with public health staff, SPP leadership, other NSHA consultants and leaders, local stakeholders, system, and external partners to ensure consistent, effective outcomes in Health ProtectionAll Public Health professionals embrace a core set of attitudes and values which form the context within which the work is practiced.
