Petroleum Geologist Downtown Calgary, Alberta An excellent opportunity for a dedicated, professional Geologist to join our rapidly expanding team\xe2\x80\xa6 Prospera Energy is seeking a highly experienced, self motivated, and professional team player to fill the role of Geologist, working out of our downtown office in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the VP of Subsurface, the Geologist provides specialist expertise on existing oil pools and develops drilling and optimization programs. You will plan, implement, and verify peak drilling locations using precise geological mapping and interpretations, while maintaining continual project monitoring. You will be accountable for: \xc2\xb7 Develop play maps and depositional models to generate and verify drill locations and development opportunities. \xc2\xb7 Correlate stratigraphic and structural cross-sections to assist in subsurface geological mapping. \xc2\xb7 Interpret subsurface formation isopach, structure, and/or facies maps to illustrate reservoir characteristics. \xc2\xb7 Identify lithological variables through the integration of SEM, thin sections, core, drill cuttings and/or petrophysical analysis that enhance reservoir prospectivity. \xc2\xb7 Provide detailed log analysis and reservoir mapping for volumetric and recovery estimates. \xc2\xb7 Monitor horizontal drilling operations and geological steering of wellbore trajectories. \xc2\xb7 Collaborate with engineering, geophysical, and operations teams to enhance hydrocarbon recovery and prospectivity. To qualify for this role, you must have: \xc2\xb7 Minimum B.Sc. in Geology from an accredited university. \xc2\xb7 APEGA member in good standing. \xc2\xb7 Minimum 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as a conventional reservoir petroleum geologist. \xc2\xb7 Exposure to the stratigraphy of the Manville Formation thought Eastern Alberta and Western Saskatchewan. \xc2\xb7 Strong background in conventional reservoir analysis and exploration. \xc2\xb7 Attention to detail with respect to log analysis, interpretation, and stratigraphic correlations. \xc2\xb7 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. \xc2\xb7 Thrives in a team setting and exhibits a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and self-motivation. \xc2\xb7 Advanced computer literacy with both geological software (Geoscout) and other pertinent software programs.
