Coverage needed for weekday mornings 6am-8am and evenings 4-8pm, and weekend mornings/afternoons

Salary:

Personal Training: $25.00 - $34.50 per hour, based on current Personal Trainer Wage Grid


Member Experience Representative:

0-500 hours $18.39 per hour


501-1000 hours $18.94 per hour


1001 - 1500 hours $19.51 per hour


1500 + hours $20.10 per hour

Nature & Scope:




Reporting to the Fitness Supervisor, the Personal Trainer/Member Experience Representative will work collaboratively with all YMCA staff and volunteers to provide exceptional service to members and guests of the YMCA. They will provide members with a comfortable and productive fitness environment through quality customer service and personal training and help the fitness department meet personal training targets.

Major Responsibilities

Provide personalized support to members with their fitness journey; including Y Thrive programs, personal training, consultations, group fitness classes, orientations, and more; in a positive, engaging, and professional manner. Develop personalized fitness programs and guide clients through safe and effective workouts. This includes conducting fitness assessments and consultations, designing a training program based on client goals and fitness levels and leading one-on-one and small group training sessions. Handle client concerns and interpersonal conflicts with professionalism, using de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution strategies to maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive training environment. Build meaningful relationships through daily interaction with YMCA members, visitors, and colleagues by being actively present on the fitness floor. Perform floor walks and checks every 10-15min. Build relationships with all members to help them choose the right path for them, including Y-Thrive, personal training, group fitness classes, and swimming Supervise the fitness floor by giving members feedback on their workouts, organizing fitness equipment (on the fitness floor, fitness studios and stretching areas), check-in group fitness classes, test fitness equipment and report any damage or non-functioning by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures. Perform member orientations and tours. Perform all mandatory administration duties and records. Clean all prescribed areas based on infection prevention protocols including fitness and high touch areas. Ensure the safety of all members, participants, staff, and property by following YMCA standards/policies/procedures and ensuring they are maintained amongst all members and staff (follow fitness floor etiquette- this includes the free weight, stretching, circuit and cardio areas). Cover Group Fitness Classes when needed.

Qualifications

Must be at least 19 years of age Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C & AED certificate YMCA Personal Trainer Certification or BCRPA Personal Training Certification or equivalent (NASM, ACE, ISSA, ACSM etc.) Group fitness certificate is an asset Guidance and/or Nutrition an asset Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date 3 professional references
