What do you offer?





The Personal Trainer assesses, discusses, motivates, and teaches individuals and couples how to improve their fitness, strength, physique, and overall health. The Personal Trainer is tasked with identifying the Members' goals and developing a targeted personalized program that combines exercise, and lifestyle resources. This position creates a program that is challenging and motivating, that the Member is capable of following when exercising alone. This position ensures the Member has the resources necessary to make use of their membership on a regular basis, and to achieve their goals. The Personal Trainer monitors and tracks the Member's progress through the program and adapts it as necessary to continuously challenge the Member. This involves demonstrating the correct technique and form for each exercise to minimize the risk of injury and improve overall fitness, as well as observing the Member perform the exercise with the intent of offering constructive feedback.


Some of the tasks of this position include:




Assessing, discussing, motivating and teaching individuals and couples about their fitness, strength, physique, and overall health. Developing targeted personalized programs that combine exercise and lifestyle resources. Ensuring that clients have the resources necessary to make use of their membership on a regular basis, and achieve their goals. Monitoring and tracking clients' progress through the program and adapts it as necessary. Offering constructive feedback to clients. Demonstrating the correct technique and form for each exercise.

What qualifications and abilities are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:




Education




Personal Training Diploma or Personal Training Certification Post-secondary degree in a health-related field such as Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Therapy, Sports Intervention, or Human Kinetics is considered an asset

Language




Fluent in English, oral and written Other languages are an asset

Experience, Skills and Abilities




1-2 years of previous experience as a personal trainer Knowledge of Legend or other database/client management systems is an asset Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and build rapport with diverse clients Excellent customer service skills, particularly as it relates to members' experiences

Additional Requirements:




Applicants must have a current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certification. Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada. A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position. Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.
