As an Older Adult Companion, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals with developmental disabilities. Your compassionate support will empower them to maintain their independence while ensuring their safety and well-being. You will engage in meaningful interactions, assist with daily activities, and provide companionship that enriches their lives.
What you'll do
Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming to promote dignity and independence.
Provide patient care including monitoring vital signs and administering medications as directed in care plans.
Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to cater to dietary needs.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks, ensuring the comfort of residents.
Engage residents in social activities, conversation, and cognitive exercises to stimulate mental engagement.
Support individuals with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care through tailored activities that enhance cognitive function.
Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfers and heavy lifting when necessary.
Document observations regarding residents' health status and report any changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
Basic qualifications
Experience in home health or senior care settings is essential.
Familiarity with first aid, CPR, HIPAA regulations, and patient monitoring practices is required.
Preferred qualifications
Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is highly valued.
Background in nursing or social work can enhance your ability to provide comprehensive support.
Knowledge of hospice care practices is a plus for those working with terminally ill patients.
