Job Responsibilities Personal Support Worker

As a PSW, you will support clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) while fostering their independence and well-being.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):

Personal hygiene and incontinence care Dressing, grooming; light massage and passive ROM Mobility support (ambulation, positioning and transferring) Feeding by mouth and providing mouth care Observing and reporting changes in the client's condition

Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs):

Laundry, linen changes, and light housekeeping Meal preparation and nutrition support Planning for transportation needs Companionship, emotional support, and social engagement Accompaniment on errands and to appointments (via taxi) Medication reminders

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintaining therapeutic professional boundaries Adhere to SFC policies, values, and guidelines. Communicate honestly and effectively with clients, caregivers, and colleagues. Apply critical thinking and best practices to ensure safety and client satisfaction. Prepare updates, progress reports, and incident reports for supervisory staff. Maintain a safe and respectful workplace free from violence, hate and harassment. Participate in training, education, and continuous process improvement Use a personal mobile device and maintain a cellular data subscription to meet work application requirements Perform other duties as assigned within the reasonable scope of the job.

Educational and/or Professional Qualifications:

PSW/DSW Certificate or equivalent meeting Ontario Standards Current CPR/ BLS certificate. Valid driver's license and vehicle access. A clear enhanced police record check is required upon hire.

Experience:

At least 2 months of experience providing homemaking or personal care services to seniors in a community setting (preferred). Customer service experience (an asset). Experience working independently and demonstrating initiative

Skills and Attributes:

Fluent in English (verbal, written, and reading comprehension). Ability to work independently and contribute to a team. Multitasking and time-management skills. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills Emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills Oral fluency in other languages is a definite asset
