The Support Worker plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences. Duties
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Provide personal care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and autism.
Monitor patient health by checking vital signs and observing changes in condition.
Administer medications as per care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Prepare meals and assist with meal planning to meet dietary needs.
Maintain cleanliness in living areas and assist with light housekeeping tasks.
Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for residents.
Skills
First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
Experience in group home settings or assisted living environments is highly desirable.
Strong skills in patient observation and monitoring for changes in health status.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility challenges.
Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
Familiarity with memory care practices and techniques for supporting individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
Proficient in cooking and meal preparation tailored to client needs.
Understanding of medication administration protocols and care plan implementation.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
