Acclaim Health announces the availability of one (1) Established Part Time Personal Support Worker position working evening shifts at Patty's Place. Evening shift times will be 6:00pm - 11:30pm. As an Established Part Time, the individual will be required to work 37.5 hours in a bi-weekly period including Weekend and Stat Holiday rotations.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Provides homemaking and personal support services to individuals in shared care facility..

Provides personal care and activities of daily living to clients

Performs delegated tasks as directed and trained by a Care Manager, Health Services

Assists with meal preparation and feeding as required.

Assists/engages in therapeutic recreation and activities as appropriate during the client's stay in the overnight service area

Communicates changes in client condition or other complex situations to the Respite Coordinator

Documents information pertinent to the client's stay in overnight respite service.

Effectively utilizes recognized GPA principles, communication and behaviour management strategies for working with persons with dementia

Works in a manner that ensures client safety

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Personal Support Worker Certificate

Registered on the Ontario PSW Registry

Medication Administration course (will be provided)

Food Handling Certification (will be provided)

Certification in Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care (will be provided)

Valid Ontario driver's license, use of vehicle and insurance per the company policy.

Certification in Basic First aid including certification in CPR-Basic Rescuer.

1 to 2 years of experience working in gerontology and working with cognitively impaired persons

Understanding and knowledge of dementia and age-related experiences.
