Job Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Trauma-Informed Personal Support Worker (PSW)/Mental Health Support Worker to provide high-quality care to youths and young adults and support to individuals with diverse mental health needs, developmental disabilities, and complex care requirements. This role involves working closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and community-based environments. The ideal candidate will be committed to promoting safety, independence, and well-being through person-centered care and trauma-informed practices.

Duties



Commute to and from McAdam to Fredericton and back via car

Provide direct personal support and assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor and observe patients for changes in behavior or health status, documenting observations accurately while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Assist with medication administration following prescribed care plans and safety protocols. Support clients with meal preparation, nutrition, and hydration needs, ensuring dietary requirements are met. Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs, including dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other developmental disabilities. Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental stimulation and social interaction aligned with their interests and abilities. Respond promptly to emergencies or behavioral crises using trauma-informed approaches; perform CPR or first aid as necessary. Collaborate with healthcare teams, social workers, families, and other caregivers to coordinate comprehensive care. Adhere to all regulatory standards including HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements



Prior experience in home health, long-term care, assisted living, hospice care, or working with individuals with disabilities is highly preferred. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are advantageous. Experience working with populations such as seniors, individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities is desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary; familiarity with assistive devices like Hoyer lifts is a plus. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing behavioral or health changes. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and healthcare teams. Compassionate attitude with trauma-informed care principles; patience and empathy are essential qualities.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 6 per week
