Personal Support Worker, Providence Manor Long Term Care Home

The Personal Support Worker, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Care, Charge RN, RN or RPN, is the primary front-line monitor of resident well-being and reports any changes in resident status or concerns to the registered nursing staff. The PSW assists in the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care on assigned Resident Home Areas. Duties are discharged in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of Providence Care Centre, the Resident\xe2\x80\x99s Bill of Rights, and the requirements of-the Long-Term Care Homes Act
and Regulations. The PSW delivers basic nursing and hygiene care for residents and assists them with activities of daily living, based on assessed needs and care-plan requirements. Roles Responsibilities

• The PSW provides direct-care for residents as outlined in the written care plan or as requested by

the resident. Direct Care encompasses but not limited to: assistance with activities of daily living; exercise, positioning and ambulation; bowel and bladder care; any other care required to ensure resident safety and comfort.

• Assists residents with matters of personal hygiene and grooming which may include: toileting,

bathing, showering, hair care, nail care, shaving, combing and other care as stipulated in the
resident\xe2\x80\x99s care plan or as requested by the resident.

• Contributes to the development of the resident care plan.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Personal Support Worker Certificate from an approved college preferred (equivalent education and

experience may be considered)

• Good attendance, good physical condition, including the ability to carry out physically demanding

duties is essential

• Have an understanding of the Abuse and Neglect reporting requirements of the Long-Term Care
