WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The PSW will be working at their full scope of practice and will be responsible for the following (but not limited to):
Assisting patients with activities of daily living and other duties assigned
Performing basic care functions
Completing unit specific documentation forms
Observing and reporting changes in patient conditions to appropriate team members
Practicing infection control and safety measures in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
Personal Support Worker Certificate from an accredited post-secondary educational institution
Current registration with the Health and Supportive Care Providers Oversight Authority (HSCPOA)
Current BLS certification
Problem solving, critical thinking, decision making, and conflict resolution skills
Knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety
Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment
Basic computer skills (Outlook, Cerner, etc.)
Ability to meet the physical demands of essential duties of the position
Ability to attend work on a regular basis in accordance with the Attendance Support Program
Performance record in alignment with STEGH's Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct
WHAT WE PREFER YOU TO HAVE:
One (1) year of recent experience as a Personal Support Worker in a hospital setting
Crisis Intervention Training
HOURS:
Must be able to meet the availability and non-availability requirements outlined in the OPSEU Service Collective Agreement.
