Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide essential care and support to individuals in various settings, including homes, group homes, and assisted living facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for clients through personalized care and support. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities, monitoring their health, and ensuring their safety and comfort.

Duties

Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting Provide companionship and emotional support to clients Monitor and record vital signs and changes in client health status Assist with meal preparation and cooking according to dietary needs Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping duties Administer medications as prescribed and assist with care plans Support clients with mobility challenges using equipment such as Hoyer lifts Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events Provide specialized care for individuals with conditions such as Alzheimer's, dementia, or developmental disabilities Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care

Skills

First Aid and CPR certification Experience in group home or assisted living settings Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health status Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure client confidentiality Experience in home health or hospice care preferred Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs Familiarity with medication administration protocols Compassionate approach towards caregiving for seniors and individuals with disabilities Ability to prepare nutritious meals tailored to client needs Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams
