Qualifications:

Current vulnerable sector screening check (screening must indicate no convictions (negative) in order to be hired Immunization Record (proof of immunity required in certain workplace settings) blood titers must accompany the immunization record Proof of current Two Step TB Test Influenza Vaccine Must have a PSW Certificate and Grade 12 English equivalency Valid First Aid and CPR certificate Knowledge of household management skills. A working knowledge of assistive aides is required. Compassionate, respectful and sincere manner with ability to deal with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner. Self-awareness, high emotional intelligence, willingness to partner with residents, families and onsite staff in caring for residents. Flexible, adaptable to changing work environment. Ability to speak other languages, is an asset. Good verbal and written skills. Ability to lift 25 kg may be required and perform lifting/bending when required to assist residents. Be comfortable running and facilitating programs and social recreation activities Valid drivers license and vehicle to travel between clients

Responsibilities:

Provides ADL and IDL assistance to the client Assists client with and provides personal care to the client Assists with a variety of household tasks to include light meal preparation and light housekeeping assistance Prepares nutritious, varied, and economical meals and snacks for the client to include special diets, as determined by the care plan Uses proper food preparation, food storage, and overall hygiene practices Communicates changes and client updates to supervisors Provide personal care to clients as outlined in their care plans. Provide companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping (whatever it takes to help the client at home). Personal Support Worker

Assists clients in all activities of daily living/ hygiene assistance, bathing, grooming, linen changes and so forth. Assists clients with transfers, ambulation, and exercises. Meets the safety needs of the client and uses equipment safely and properly. Functions within the limits of own experience and knowledge, and practices safely and competently within the job description. Completes records and documentations accurately and thoroughly
