The Support Worker plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and private residences. This position is essential for enhancing the quality of life for clients by supporting their daily activities and ensuring their well-being. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, or those requiring specialized care.
Duties
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
Provide patient care and support in a respectful and dignified manner.
Monitor and document vital signs and changes in clients' conditions.
Prepare meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
Administer medications as per care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Engage clients in social activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Use equipment such as Hoyer lifts for transferring clients safely when necessary.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Provide support for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, or other disabilities.
Skills
First aid and CPR certification are preferred.
Experience in home health, hospice care, or long-term care settings is beneficial.
Knowledge of patient observation techniques and monitoring practices.
Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
Familiarity with memory care strategies and techniques for working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
Compassionate approach to caregiving that prioritizes the dignity and respect of all individuals served.
Experience in cooking and meal preparation tailored to individual dietary requirements is a plus.
Understanding of social work principles as they relate to patient care. This role requires dedication, empathy, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of those we serve through quality support services.
