We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized
Solar Permitting & Compliance Coordinator
to manage all permitting, utility, and authority approvals for residential and commercial solar projects. This role is responsible for ensuring projects move efficiently from design completion through permit issuance, utility approval, and readiness for installation.
The Solar Permitting & Compliance Coordinator will act as the central point of contact between municipalities, utilities, inspectors, engineers, and internal teams. Success in this role requires strong knowledge of AHJ requirements, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to manage a high volume of active permits while preventing delays.

Responsibilities
Permitting & Authority Coordination
Prepare, submit, and track solar permit applications with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction
Manage utility applications including net metering, microgeneration, and interconnection approvals
Serve as the primary liaison between the company and permitting offices, utilities, and inspectors
Respond promptly to plan check comments, deficiencies, and revision requests
Documentation & Compliance Management
Ensure all permit packages are complete and accurate, including site plans, electrical diagrams, engineering letters, and product spec sheets
Verify system designs comply with local building codes, electrical codes, fire setback requirements, and utility standards
Maintain organized digital records of permits, approvals, revisions, and inspection outcomes
Cross-Team Collaboration
Work closely with design, engineering, sales, and installation teams to resolve permitting issues
Coordinate design revisions required by AHJs or utilities
Communicate permitting timelines and constraints clearly to internal stakeholders to support installation scheduling
Inspection & Approval Tracking
Schedule inspections and coordinate corrections or re-inspections when required
Track permit statuses, inspection results, and approval timelines across multiple jurisdictions
Ensure final permit sign-off and utility approval are obtained prior to commissioning
Process Improvement & Reporting
Monitor permitting timelines to identify bottlenecks and reduce project delays
Stay current on changing municipal, provincial/state, and utility solar regulations
Provide regular status updates, reports, and risk flags to project management and leadership teams
Assist in developing standardized permitting processes and checklists to improve efficiency
Backgrounds Preferred
Previous experience in solar permitting, project coordination, construction administration, or utility-facing roles
Strong understanding of solar permitting workflows, AHJ requirements, and utility interconnection processes
Ability to read and interpret solar designs, site plans, electrical single-line diagrams, and engineering documents
Proficiency with tools such as:
ProCore
Aurora Solar
Bluebeam
Monday.com / ClickUp
CRM or document management platforms
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills when dealing with municipalities and utilities
Ability to manage high permit volumes while maintaining accuracy and compliance
Familiarity with regional solar codes, utility rules, and inspection processes is strongly preferred
